It's true, that the main Roll-Out for the TiVo Comcast Motorola DVR Software has been pushed from Jan. 2007 till Mid / late April now. 
However the Few Test Markets will only be delayed till late Jan 2007 for the Public Roll Out instead of Late Dec. 2006.

There was never a promised release date anyways...just speculation on everyone's part. There is a version of the product ready, but Comcast wants to make sure that it is as perfect as it can be, before releasing it. I always agree with waiting until a product is better perfected, before releasing it. I think that companies should try to get new things out quickly, but not at the expense of quality. Look at the recent launch of PS3...they are burning out all over the place.
(Let's not all start bringing up the many issues with the Motorola DVRs now) |

You don't want to make the same mistake as with the I-Guide / Motorola DVR's. Those products are obviously in their infancy. Let the TIVO software mature in the hands of Comcast and its testers. Release it to the general public when it is fit to be polished and clean.
Yeah the PS3 was rushed for the holiday season despite all the shortcomings. They really pulled a Microsoft as in "release it now, fix it later". The dang thing still sells for $900+ on e-bay. That's another conversation all together. |

I try to report every bug to Comcast and hope they listen and fix it.

| I've reported multiple bugs and not one has been fixed.
My two main ones are:
When the unit turns on for a scheduled recording it shuts off afterwards, even if while it is recording you decided to watch a previously recorded program. This has happened since the 6412 and has continued with my 3412. It's been at least a year since I initially reported this.
My 3412 gives me an error code HW when the HD fills up. If I delete old shows it goes away, but I can't just let it fill up and delete old content as it needs the space without complaining - newer issue.
I just hope the tivo software is less buggy. I'll wait an extra couple of months if need be. |

The power button on the DVR doesn't really turn the unit itself off, it only deactivates the video output. So you're not "saving electricity" or any wear and tear on anything by using it. That way, your recordings can start as they normally would, and you can still watch another channel or something already recorded without worrying about it shutting off again. |

Lebanon, PA | The HDD still runs even if the STB is placed in Standby (off) mode.
You can place both tuners on one of the 45 digital music channels and this will stop the buffering, but the HDD will still be on and spinning. |

When you turn the box off (put in standby or whatever) it is not buffering. The hard drive may indeed be spinning but there is no writing going on. When the box is on, you can distinctly hear the drive writing. I have had this box for 2 years. I know (and can hear) the difference when it is on vs. off.
If what you are saying is true, why bother having a power button at all? |
