| strange problems
Hello all, I am in champaign and after the speed boost I've run into a problem.
I'm getting lower speeds than other people so I assumed it was because I was going through a router.
The router is a netgear wgr614 v6 The computer I am testing is "hard wired" to the router.
Anyway, when I went to test the machine straight from the sb3100 modem, The network connection dropped from 100mbps to 10mbps.... Same cord, Same nick... At first I thought I had a faulty cord but I changed that with three diffrent ones... if I plug back into the router it goes back to 100mbps... weird eh?
Other info: Intel(R) PRO/100+ Management Adapter the router is cloned with the testing machines mac Thanks for any and all replies. |

| I think its safe to say that everyone has great speeds for a few hours then it drops to junk.I have not been about to hit 9.00Mbps since the update and i have not had good "ping times "since the update/upgrade even some of the web pages which was fast in loading are even slower then normal now.so I think there servers are not able to handle the load of everyone having 10mbps and we just have to wait and see what happens i guess im not sure but its not cool at all. |

Just drink some more of the Insight Kool-Aid and you'll be feeling a lot more "reasonable" in just a few hours.....

| reply to vbslim Vbslim...What you are describing is the Nic card seeing the modem as a 10BT connection instead of an 100BT like thru the router and it comes up at the bottom right and tells you it's a 10Mbps.It sounds like the card is having an issue with the modem connection, but I wouldn't worry about it because it is still detecting the 100Mbit connection to the router so even if you needed to transfer files between computers it would still be 100Mbit throughput.

1 edit | Exactly right freak... you hit the nail on the head...
I was just itchin to see what the speed mighta been like with out the router... And a little kilobyte envy I suppose..
I aint complaining... a 400kb d/l increase aint bad and I'm really liking the upload boost...
Thanks for your reply
