Have you tried taking the Netgear out of the network to see if the problem disappears? You will need to use a PPPoE client (like the native XP) to connect though.
I would suggest contacting BellSouth and getting a Westell 327W. It's supported by the helpdesks, has ADSL2+ capabilities, and has 4 LAN ports. »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »Detailed Information for the Westell 327W Wireless Router. |

| reply to searchname ok, so all is well and then I start up World of Warcraft. The latency starts around 60ms and then gradually jumps to 1800+ms. Then when I run the line quality test, it says, "Target IP does not respond to ICMP ping". Everything is set up for ping, it works before starting the game.
After this happens, one of two things must occur to get my connection back to normal. I either have to do a hard reset of my modem or leave it alone for several hours and it seems to correct itself.
Any ideas how this game could cause these problems? I loved my BS DSL before switching to Comcast (did it for price. Now that I've switched back, I'm not enjoying this at all. |

| reply to searchname I wasn't able to begin working on it until this morning and the problem is gone. I'm sure it will come back, it's very bad at night for some reason. Here's my quality test from a few minutes ago:

Worry about the packet loss on your first hop. Many times it points to a physical issue. The download speeds seem ok, but everything is so laggy. Take a look at the Line Quality test. I called BS tech support, but he didnt seem to understand what I meant by latency issues.
I recently switched back to BS from Comcast and was not having any issues with them. When I first switched back to BS, everything seemed ok. Now, everything is so laggy. I play WoW and was use to 36ms response times, now I have 1500ms+. |
