| Can 327w be use as a router for Cable Modem
well, i had verizon for about a year whilst having Comcast as my Cable Tv. Then the new thing came out where you can get Phone, Internet, and Tv, for cheaper when you get them all together.
Now yesterday i got the Comcast installed on my computer, and i want to know if i can get a wireless network so that my laptop also gets Comcast, because my laptop is internet-less right now.
if its possible can you tell me how i can do this.
This is what im currently trying...
1.) Ethernet in back of Cable Modem Is plugged in E2 of the 327w. 2.) E1 of the 327W is connected to the comp.
This didnt work, but on the laptop, it says connected to network but all websites dont work.
Can someone please help, and i dont want to hire the Comcast people to do it, because they are charging some $100 for equipment and $5 a mont. |

| You need to plug your computer into E2, and your modem to E1.
Before plugging into the modem, you have some configuration work to do.
Connect to the modem using http://192.168.1.1/ Place your mouse pointer over "configuration", then select "Advanced WAN" from the drop down menu. It probably asks for a user and password at this point. It is whatever you set them to - perhaps your old verizon data.
Once in the Advanced WAN menu. Then select WAN.
There should be a box for WAN PORT, probably showing DSLATMPORT as the selection. You can change that to ETHERNET PORT 1. There should be a SAVE button near the bottom of the screen. Use that to save your changes.
At this point the modem should reset. Then connect your cable modem to ethernet port 1 and you should be set.
I'm not sure if you would need a regular ethernet patch cable, or a crossover cable, to connect to the cable modem.
Note: I am describing this from the manual (pdf file). I don't have a 327w myself. The manual sucks. |

| i did all of that, and then i went back to the home of »192.168.1.1/ and it said connecting and then it said it took too long for it to connect. Is it because all the information to connect to Verizon is still there and when i try to connect to the comcast its using the same info which does not match? |

| That suggests that you didn't properly make the configuration change. A "connecting ..." message indicates it is still trying to do DSL.
Recheck that the settings took. This would show up as the WAN port setting being ETHERNET PORT 1. If they did take, then maybe try switching the cable that connects modem to ethernet port 1 (from ethernet patch cable to crossover cable, or vice versa). |
