probably too many connections in your p2p program....try limiting the amount, and try it without your router... |

linksys routers have issues with the thousands of connections associated with bt. I switched the firmware to dd-wrt on mine, and tweaked a few things, and have never had a problem since. |

| reply to Morty I used to have alot of problems running P2P, and I found out that there are two things that affected me. One, is that I had a crappy model Linksys router that would disconnect if I try to establish too many connections. I swapped the router and got better performance, but I still experienced some packetloss and disconnects (AIM would sign off and sign back on every few hours, if I am playing a game I would get disconnected). I swapped out my old cable modem (a really old Toshiba DOCSIS 1.1 standard) and replaced with a Motorola SB5120 and that fixed all my problems (and I got speed boost to work too).
So, what cable modem do you have? That may be to blame too. |

| reply to rob2006 Make sure you read your owners manual in regards to firmware updates.
Make sure you do not complete a firmware update from a wireless computer.

I'm pretty sure that's a common problem with the WRT54G, something to do with it saving those NAT table states for days and it eventually stopping everything.
If you're not up to using 3rd party firmware, just use the newest linksys official stuff. Also, make sure it isn't just the tracker/torrent you're using by testing some of the really fast torrents from »www.legaltorrents.com -- "Some people never see the light till it shines thru bullet holes." -Bruce Cockburn

said by rob2006 :ok. i know . but thats the version i have in my router. right now Limit the number of connections, if it still happens you could try putting that firmware on it again in the off chance that something goofed when it was updated the first time. |

| reply to rob2006 You have not yet indicated whether you tried following gar187er's advice and have bypassed the Router and tried connecting the Machine directly to the Modem (don't forget to powercycle the Modem after doing this).
This is the only sure way to eliminate the router as the cause of the issue.
Are you running Windows XP SP2 ?
I'm wondering if this may be an issue with the maximum number of concurrent connections limitation that it imposes. |
