Yeah the DCP501 is really a HTIB (Home Theater in a Box) with an onboard DCT-2224. I have yet to see a DCP601 which has HD Capability. None of them have DVR functions though.

Neither Motorola or Scientific Atlanta sell those boxes to consumers. They deal to providers only. The ones you see on Ebay for sale are likely stolen.

do not buy it. It will not work. The only way to get it is to rent from Comcast.

Just recently moved up to Comcast HD with a HD box with DVR - I see these boxes on Ebay for cheap - Is it possible to use one of these if I buy it?
Does it work or will comcast know?
