| "walled garden" means we NEED Net Neutrality "nstead of letting you use the data service you already pay for to find and watch video from any site that works with your phone, these companies would rather "upsell" you on packages"
If that's not the perfect argument for the need for net neutrality, I don't know what is. Verizon is selling you data access, but they are charging MORE for you to access utube. Once the net neutrality legislation is passed, Verizon won't be able to charge a 'premium' to let users USE THEIR SERVICE. Verizon is a DATA SERVICE, and verizon has no right to decide WHAT data is transmitted over the network. Any attempt to regulate the content of a data stream is at least a privacy violation, and at most a violation of human rights. If you pay for internet access, it's yours to use as YOU SEE FIT. No company has the right to tell you what you can or cannot see on the internet. Verizon is shooting itself in the head with this insane idea, and giving tons of ammo to all the advocates of net neutrality. -- Stick it to the MAN. Support your local torrent sites. Proudly providing 10mb of upstream for all your TV, Movie, and MP3 needs. | |

| Re: "walled garden" means we NEED Net Neutrality Ok, you guys didn't read the article. They are not doing something that should make you scream for Net Neutrality. They are not charging you extra from accessing YouTube via the EVDO service. They are charging extra for accessing YouTube via the VCast service. Two completely different services. All of these comments are based upon a bad assumption. | |
