[Cable] Great News for NFL Fans!

Insight and the NFL were finally able to come to a deal that works for all Insight customers! Here's the press release that is going out tonight!!

For Immediate Release

Insight Communications Announces Agreement to Televise NFL Network’s Thursday/Saturday Live Primetime NFL Games

NEW YORK – November 28, 2006 – Insight Communications and NFL Network today announced Insight will televise NFL Network's live NFL games package this season in conjunction with its carriage of NFL Network.

Insight will air the remaining Thursday and Saturday night NFL games beginning with the Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals match-up this Thursday, November 30, at 8:00 p.m. ET. This and all remaining games during weeks 13 through 17 of the NFL season will be available to Insight customers on NFL Network channel 547 in all markets.

Insight was one of the first affiliates of NFL Network, carrying NFL Network to its customers since March 2004.

Insight Communications is the 8th largest cable operator in the United States, serving approximately 1.3 million customers in the four contiguous states of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Insight offers bundled, state-of-the-art services in mid-sized communities, delivering analog and digital video, high-speed Internet and, in selected markets, voice telephony to its customers.

NFL Network airs seven days a week, 24 hours a day on a year-round basis and is the first television network fully dedicated to the NFL and the sport of football. For more information, log onto www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/home.

quit posting this crap and fix your insightbb service. I have a question did anyone tell sprint and level3 that you were going to increase there bandwidth usage by 3000000 mbits a sec? or 2929.68 gbits per second

No doubt! I'd like to see a response that actually pertains to the issues that are occurring. Not another fluff piece to attempt to distract us. This "upgrade" has really "improved my service" ( yes, that's sarcasm, Michael) It was time for Insight to put up or shut up, guess which choice you've made for yourself?

Just a bit of advice...

You may want to add the word "previously" before the words "high-speed Internet". You know, so you're not accused of false advertising.

Good to see a deal went through. It's a week late though. I still got to see the game at the bar. I bet your phones really blew up with "I'll go to dish" threats.

While NFL Network may be "greedy" for doing this, they do it because they can. You think cable companies aren't greedy until satellite and DSL put a dent in them.

Really though NFL Network needs the money. Did you see that KC vs DEN game. Bryant Gumble had the worst play-by-play I've ever heard outside of highschool games, and they couldn't even keep the scrimmage lines on the screen. They must have hired the guys that did the insight backbone switch.

Here's the official Insight letter:

To our NFL fans:

Great news!

We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with NFL Network allowing us to bring you seven late-season NFL football games. The exclusive package of Thursday and Saturday night games continues this Thursday, November 30, at 8:00 p.m. ET, as we air the Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals game on NFL Network, Insight’s digital channel 547.

Adding new programming can be a complex process. We appreciate the patience and loyalty you showed while we worked on a solution that makes sense for Insight, for NFL Network and, most importantly, for you, our customers.

Many of you are very passionate about your NFL football. We get it. We love football too. That’s why we ultimately struck a deal to bring these games to you.

Most digital customers already have NFL Network on channel 547 as part of our Digital Standard service. If it’s not currently in your digital package, you can add Digital Standard with a simple phone call to your local Insight office at 800-882-6803.

Once again, we thank you for your patience during the last week, and apologize for any inconvenience or uncertainty that you’ve experienced. We continue to welcome your comments about the NFL Network. Send them to us at NFL@insightbb.com.

Enjoy the games!

The remaining late-season games are scheduled as follows:

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens
Thursday, November 30, at 8:00 p.m. ET

Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Thursday, December 7, at 8:00 p.m. ET

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Oakland Raiders

Technically $45 + tax, but close enough. It seems insight likes to screw it's long time customers so they can offer good rates to new ones (ie attract new business).

Do you have cable too? I know mine is supposed to be I think $40/month but since I have cable they take $10 off. I also have the slowest one.

Ok Folks....Can we cut the CEO a break?

I mean the guy is nice enough to pop in and talk to us about broadband related stuff, let him speak about other general items about the company once in a while. I consider it a commercial. If I don't want to read it, I scroll down.

Now my two cents.....How about NFL TV in HD?

I have to agree fix this crappy service. I am tired of seeing 800kB then seeing my speed drop to 30kB, and then watch it go to 400kB.. The amount of downloads that are corrupt because of this is annoying. I can't even play in a beta because of this crap. Whatever you guys are doing sucks!

Before this stupid upgrade I had 4Mbps constant, a low ping all the time, and my speed dang sure never skipped all over the place. The last 2 weeks my speed has been crap. Yeah on the speeds on occasion says 10mbps.. I never get that, and my downloads play hop scotch...

The phone call today hyping this channel wasn't necessary. It's one thing when you call to alert customers about true upgrades. I don't need you calling my home about some NFL channel or any new channel for that matter. If it's a series of channels or a major programming change I'll deal with that. Calling my home to tell me to check out the NFL channel on 547. Just isn't something you should be wasting your time and resources doing.

Nice job!!! Insight was the only cable compnay in Columbus that had the Bengals/ravens game. The fact that it was also in HD was icing on the cake.

TW & WOW customers were flooding the local call in shows because their cable companies were not getting them the programming that they want.

The impession I got from the recorded phone call was it was part of the digital service. You have to get an HD pack to get it. I wish the press releases were more clear about them. Same thing happenned with the new HD channels. It sounded like they were part of the regular HD service but they aren't. How about ESPNHD as part of the local HD channel package?
