Re: Yahoo! - Anyone having problems getting to it?

Weird. Anyone know if the node issue would cause different people to not be able to get to certain sites? Since I can get to Yahoo but not the Kid4life

No I am sorry, I was being a little sarcastic about the node issue....

The inability to get to CERTAIN sites is not normally associated to a node problem.

DNS or routing maybe.

I think it is if the router's table is scrambled or somewhat scrambled either due to glitch or a fat-finger.

That McLean, VA Node/Router is a major backbone router on Comcast's network. It's right outside of Wash. D.C. and handles a tremendous amount of data for Comcast. There's no telling what sites are affected. It could be that another company like AT&T, Level3, Quest, Sprint, etc's Interface to this node/router is down, i.e.(cable/fiber cut).

That doesn't explain why *MY* connection is going to the East Coast when it usually goes to the South Bay here in Cali.

the term "node" was used long before Cable deployed a Fiber Node.

A router is a "node"
A SONET box is called a "node"
A DWDM box is called a "node"

SF Bay Area here...

I can't access Yahoo or any of their services. Other sites take a while to come up too. Good to know it's not just me.

I prefer to use the correct term for Router which is Router.

I didn't say a Router was called a node did I.(It is of course)

But almost all Routers are connected to a Node to establish a link to another Router.

Thats exactly what you said.

"the term "node" was used long before Cable deployed a Fiber Node.

A router is a "node"
A SONET box is called a "node"
A DWDM box is called a "node""

Goodnight.
