I have seen more than my share of screwed-up brake jobs over the years, in some cases the results were quite frightening. In other cases, calpier piston dust boots or similar were damaged, and the consequences would not be immeadiately obvious.
Skill, care and mechanical aptitude are all required, and a decent set of instructions can be especially helpful to novices.

Brake rotor/pad installations are so simple and you don't need any service manual to follow. I have been doing rotor/pads replacements myself for my family and extended family's GM, Ford & Honda SUV/Minivan/Cars, the techniques are almost the same. Once you do one, you know a life-time skill.
Instead of buying a service manual, pick up a 6-pack and invite a buddy who had performed brake work before on a nice Saturday. The first time is intimadating and extra hands/time/prior knowledge are invaluable.
A c-clamp, breaker bar, and socket/bit set will any brake job easy. Invest the money you are going to save on a floor jack and jack stands too. |

I believe all manufacturers in the US are required by law to make service information available to the public, in a manner and format similar to what the dealers get.
I would be quite surprised if Nissan didn't have something like that.

I believe that the cheapest plan is $10 for 1 or 2 days access, it isn't necessary to join for an entire year.

Hmm =/ Hopefully someone else can chime in and help with another book for you. They don't have the book out yet for my 05 accent either, they're probably waiting until that generation of the Xa has finished. I'd do step by step, but I don't want to confuse you or mislead you at all. Good luck! |

Unless there's something special about your car, not that difficult. Get a Chiltons manual and you'll save yourself at least 50% of the price of having them done. (this is assuming you're doing disc brakes, drums are a little trickier but still definately do-able) |

i'm not great with cars but i can do minor things
