Mine is back now also (big shock), all the people downloading porn must have gone to bed

Last Result:
Download Speed: 6481 kbps (810.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 477 kbps (59.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

810 KB/sec, that is a nice sight. Too bad its not when I want to be up all that much.

Well we are going down again, just like clockwork. In the past hour my Chicago download speed has dropped from over 7k down to under 3k. Looks like this will be the way of things from now on.

Well I have bonefied proof that 4the issues in Mason City know how to tell time. Here are two tests to Chicago i did, one at about 355PM and the other at about 409PM

here is the 3:55PM data

Last Result:
Download Speed: 7404 kbps (925.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 474 kbps (59.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Here is the 409PM Chitown speed test

Last Result:
Download Speed: 5289 kbps (661.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 478 kbps (59.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

about 20 mins and I have lost about 2Mbps. God

Mediacom had better get there act together, otherwise Mason City will give them the heave ho.

Here is my 423PM Chicago test.

Download Speed: 1583 kbps (197.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 476 kbps (59.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

In a word...Craptastic.

In 30mins my connection has lost around 6Mbps. that is just inSANE. This is more then people coming home from work, sounds like crappy equipment.

you're definitely not alone zoomer, I can barely play BF2 anymore...I think I was better off with Qwest 1.5/896! This is sad really. If it doesn't get better fast, I'm cancelling everything and going back to satellite/dsl/qwest phone. I was giving mediacom a second chance by switching everything to them and they are blowing it...HARD.

6:30pm Sunday evening:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 719 kbps (89.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 455 kbps (56.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Been getting disconnects ALL day. Every 15-30 minutes the net will just completely die for 10 seconds or so...

Supposedly I'm suppose to be getting the 15000 down/1000 up package now with the upgrade..

Yea, my Battlefield 2 will drop me from any random server every half hour or so. Really starting to piss me off.

I dont get drop-outs or anything, I seem to just get REALLY bad speed this time of day.
Right now my DL speed is about the same as my Upload to chicago, very slow.

If anything its getting worse and worse and clearly MediaCom does not feel they need to address it. I guess the line "you can expect to lose 95% of the speed your paying for from 4PM-11PM" must be in the TOS someplace.

Anyone who is paying MediaCom for anything more than just basic cable and basic HSI (supposed to be 8000/500) is getting robbed blind. they cant maintain 8Mbps so there is no sense in having a 15Mbps setup with them I think if this issue continues you will see more and more people drop Max and just go to what most people have.

(note to self: NEVER NEVER NEVER get MediaCom phone)

I switched my Modem and router with good results. I chucked the SMC to the curb and opted for a LinkSys WRT54GS and a Motorola SB5120. This is what I got from the change

Now last night internet was down for well over 3 hours and now I only get this

Must be the time difference

Just got off the phone (yes again). Spoke with Customer Service first for about half an hour, and then Tech Support for another hour, on and off hold.

More of you need to call in instead of just complaining on here. Mediacom doesn't check this forum. They can't see, nor do they care what you write about their service (or lack there of) online. Call them. Yes I know you have to wait on hold along time and you speak to mostly idiots. Do it anyway. Complain. Tell them about this place, list off other towns/users near you with the exact same problem (crap speeds during prime-time). Demand to know what is being done about it and when, and don't hang up until you get somewhere.

I spoke with 3 different people, and told them all about you guys, your different towns/areas, and how we all have the same problem, and they were either playing stupid, or there aren't many calls being put into them. These particular techs were from a West Des Moines call center.

I asked repeatedly to speak with his supervisor, or someone who could explain to me why during the only hours I'm home to use my service, I only get 1/10 at best of what I pay $60+ a month for. He remained calm and helpful, putting me on hold several times to go speak with "his superior's".

The first time he came back and told me that "they" had looked at my node and weren't seeing any behavior that would explain my bad speeds. They wanted to schedule a tech out - I said no, and explained how I've already had two techs out in less than 2 weeks, and I explained how they stated my equipment and signal levels were very good, and how close I was to the node (I could throw a rock to it from my porch).

After some more discussion, I was placed on hold again, while he was talking to his superior's again. He came back after 5-7 minutes and this time agreed that there was an overloading problem, and that they were working to fix it. I asked what exactly they were doing, when this work was being started/completed, etc. After saying he couldn't give me any answers to those questions, I again asked to speak with someone who could.

I was placed on hold again, after which I was told again that I could not speak with his manager at the current time, but that he could fill out a “call back sheet”, and that someone would call me as soon as they were able. (Yes I'm skeptical too). By this time I had been on the phone for almost 2 hours, so I agreed, and stated that I could be reached ANY time, and didn't care if it was 2 in the morning.

I don't expect to get a call back. But if I don't – I do plan on calling again and doing this same routine again tomorrow until I get some answers. If I have to cancel their service I will. I might as well pay $40 for DSL, at least I'd get 2mbps down when I'm home to use it. We did apparently get one month free service for last month. But I'm still doubting it'll actually get taken off our bill.

Sorry for the huge post – I'm more or less just venting. If you've called in the past week about this slowness in North Iowa during prime-time, please post here or let me know.

Speeds as of 8PM Monday night:
Download Speed: 443 kbps (55.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 459 kbps (57.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Well you can add me to the call list.

I've spoken to several reps about these issues in the last week.

And your speeds look good compared to mine:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 170 kbps (21.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 510 kbps (63.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

I called tonight and was on hold for 35 mins. I told the tech my internet was almost unusable from 4pm-10:30pm. He emailed me their little ping/tracert batch file. I emailed the results to them and supposedly they'll call back (I wont hold my breath).

Well it's 11, I'm headed to bed, haven't heard from them yet (didn't figure I would) - and I doubt I'll hear anything tomorrow either.
