Re: Montgomery County, Maryland fios tv

Bethesda Wildwood is up. I have an install date of Dec. 26 and they could have done it as early as the 21st.

Just spoke to VZ sales rep who said that all CO's that already have fiber should be lit for TV within the next 30 days. I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed and anything else I can think of crossed as well.

So it looks like the total FiOS TV will be something like $39.99 + $2.50 (PEG fee) + $2.08 (FF) = $44.57 or about five bucks less than I am paying now. That's not enough to make me jump on the phone and place my order today, but it's something to think about each time the picture freezes or goes out with an approaching t-storm. I guess what will tip the scale is a careful examination of the channels available, and do they carry the ones we like. I hope Verizon comes out with some enticing ads that contain all the details in the fine print.
FiOS internet is a terrific service and I have every reason to assume their TV will be as good. Direct TV is also a great service and has TiVo, so I also feel little urge to switch.

Isn't it great to have such a choice! I hope this is the incentive Comcast needs to become as good.

...guessing... no "taxes"...a PEG/INet fee... $1.25/mo,..double that.;a Franchise Fee. 5.2% of tv-only portion of the bill.
Thanks JT. I'm currently paying DirecTV $49.99 for "Plus" programming and local channels, which closely resembles the FiOS premium plan of $39.99. I read there is a Set Top Box fee of $3.95/mo each, the first being waived with an annual agreement. I don't know if there is a discount for having both Internet and TV. (I already have the 5/2 FiOS Internet at $34.99).

I can't give you dollars and cents Lena, and I'm mostly only guessing... so... take it with a grain of salt:

As far as I know there are no "taxes".

There will be a PEG/INet fee. Comcast customers pay $1.25/mo, but I think Verizon customers might have to pay double that.

There will also be a Franchise Fee. It will be ~5.1 or 5.2% of your non-internet, non-phone, tv-only portion of the bill.

you will pay taxes in addition to franchise fees as stipulated in the franchise agreement. Don't forget, Verizon collect these fees on behalf of the respective state/local governments.
Let me clarify my question. Does anyone know HOW MUCH the taxes and fees are? In dollars and cents would be nice.

The website tells me I can get FiOS TV added anytime. (Four Corners area of Silver Spring) What it doesn't tell me (and I'm hoping someone on this forum from Montgomery County can) is if there are any fees or taxes added to, say, the FiOS TV Premium package of $39.99. I see where the $4/mo fee for the 1st STB is waived with a one year agreement. I'm concerned about taxes and perhaps franchise fees passed on to the customer.

Thanks for any insight.

New update: Verizon called to confirm fios tv install for tomorrow anytime between 8 and 5. I said to them that my install date is the 19th but they replied that the 19th is for the fios internet which I have already and the tv install date is the 7th. Don't get me wrong, I am not mad. This is perfect for me because my schedule was tight for the 19th. Also, I would like to thank those persons on this website who kept me inform of the fios progression in the montgomery county over the past year. You guys kept hope alive.
