Wait until Vista is fully released to the general public and only then will company full support it with their product. Lethal |

A few questions/things to try.
Where is the setup file located? If it is on a network share you might try moving it to your local machine. If it is on your local machine you might then try moving it to a different directory.
Have you tried setting compatibility mode on the setup to run in 2k3 sp1 mode or XP sp2 mode? These two modes seem to work the best with pesky programs.
I've been able to install the full version of Acrobat 7.0 in Vista with no problem. |

One question - are you still running a Beta version of Vista, or is this the RTM version? I ask because at the time of your other post, RTM wasn't out, so I presume that effort was on a Beta version. |

The install file resides on my local machine; more specifically, on the desktop. I have not tried manipulating the compatibility mode, but will do so this evening when I get home. Thank you for the suggestion. One thing though; the requirements list specifically indicates that it is compatible with VISTA. And there are others having success with 8.0 and VISTA. Due to the nature of the error message, I am inclined to believe there is something screwy going on with my permissions settings. |

Windows Vista Ultimate. |

I've got it installed with no issue. They do have a Vista specific download. I was even using it under the RCs.
Perhaps try kicking the installer off with the "as administrator" option but I didn't need to do that. |

Vista permissions for Adobe Reader |
Are you running any anti-virus software that may be causing an issue with the install? FWIW, I installed the Adobe Reader 8.0 Beta for Vista on my Vista Ultimate (RTM) machine with no problems. I normally run as a standard user and UAC kicked off as expected so my administrator account could do the actual install after I supplied the correct password... The screen shot illustrates the permissions settings on my machine. The root user is my admin account... |

According to those pictures, you're running 7.08, not 8.0. |

I am having no success. For whatever reason, the 8.0 installer is placing install files in a temp folder that I am not able to access. All the permissions appear to be correct, yet when it tries to finalize the install I get that error every time. I tired running the file rather than saving it. I tried installing in SAFEMODE. No luck. I am out of ideas. I tried to install version 7 but am not able to download it from Adobe's site. |

Just choose yourWindows version here: » www.adobe.com/products/a ··· ons.htmlClick Continue and then download 7.0.8. [EDIT] If that link doesn't work, you can download 7.0.8 here: » www.filehippo.com/downlo ··· er/?1121 |

jimeez, If you select VISTA on that page, it *might* show you only Version 8. If so, just select WinXP instead and it will give you access to download 7.0.8. |

Yes, but the download page I went to at Adobe said Adobe Reader 8.0Adobe Reader for Windows Vista Beta... » www.adobe.com/products/a ··· ep2.htmlI presumed the program I downloaded and installed had simply not been updated as far as its version number is concerned but was still the Beta 8 release. I see now that that was a wrong presumption on my part... |

OK... you will not believe this, but it's because you must have UAC enabled. Yup... stupid and not what UAC is all about, but if it is not 'on' you will error out. Let me give you a much better tip -- install Foxit 2.0 instead. It's a free PDF reader and IE plugin that is LIGHTENING quick and only 1.5MB download. It makes Adobe look like Britney Spears at 8 months pregnant... fat, bloated and slow to launch... You will never go back... » www.download.com/Foxit-P ··· 206.html |
