Thinking about getting FIOS TV installed. Did a couple of searches on this forum but am a little confused. What all will they need to do/install when they add TV. I have one of the earliest installs of FIOS (2+ years now) and at the time it was put in I understood that coax would just need to be run from the ONT to the splitter in my attic and a STB would need to be connected at each TV. Nothing was said about a NIM device but I am guessing that the NIM would connect to the STB and the router via cat 5. Should I expect the install to be set up this way or will they bring a new router with the built in NIM? Does the new wireless router work with the STB wirelessly or does it need a ethernet drop? If they install using a standalone NIM device does it require its own AC connection (Wall wart)? |
