don't hold your breath waiting for the benefits of competition from fiber or VDSL+, because there won't really be that much competition?
And in 2/3 of cable's coverage area there won't be any competition at all from advanced telco services?
I guess duopolies move slow and monopolies don't move at all.

| Clearwire has just started offering wimax service to much of the Seattle metro area. But with a top download speed of 1.5mbit, it's not much of a competitor to the local DSL or cable offerings. It would be attractive if the only alternative was sat-based offerings, but it's not really much of an option to the local duopoly. |
