Clearwire has just started offering wimax service to much of the Seattle metro area. But with a top download speed of 1.5mbit, it's not much of a competitor to the local DSL or cable offerings. It would be attractive if the only alternative was sat-based offerings, but it's not really much of an option to the local duopoly.
