If what you say is true with the sniffing for torrent files, I can think of tons of legal torrents and plenty of reasons to be using bittorent other than for illegal means. In fact if a site has a torrent and a http download most of the time the torrent will be faster.

I should correct myself: they scan the downloaded torrent files against a list provided by the MPAA and the RIAA to make sure they're illegal. Legal torrents are fine.
