from what I’ve heard, you can get HD integrated into MCE via your cable box and a firewire connection

If you are running VISTA :
Grab the vista firestb msi package from here:
»home.comcast.net/~timmmoore/wsb/···ire.html
and note it does require you disable UAC. Its labeled as for Vista RC1 but works fine with Vista RTM.

Yes, I've been doing this for over a year now. This isn't new. What I mentioned earlier still applies. If you try to export the MPEG transport stream via firewire while tuned to HBO or any other HD plus channel, you'll get nothing out. The 5C handshake does not authenticate your PC regardless of Media Center running or not.

Also, this is for stream capture, you cannot get files off the hard drive as if it was on your network (which I would truly love).
