| Multi-Room DVR's?
Does anyone in the know at Mediacom have any idea if we are going to get multi-room DVR service at any point? I know Motorola has built the capability into their DCT boxes.
For those who don't understand, you'd essentially have one DVR and then a box on other TV's in the house. All the TV's could watch recordings from the same DVR. |

BTW you can get more than one DVR all you have to do is bitch a lot or have a lot of money. |

Seems to be status quo for obtaining any reasonable level of service from Mediacom. |

I have met people with 2, 3 even 4 DVR dcts. I think bitching works just fine but you have to know how to do it Let your lady do it. Ladies are experts at this.
Also if you have a lot of money they will even wall fish at no extra charge. Special customers get special treatment.
It makes no sense to me. |

You still have to have a box (slave) for each TV that will be reading off of the DVR box (master). They can still charge fees for each slave in addition to the master. In some sense this might produce a greater profit margin as these boxes should/would be cheaper than actual DVR boxes, yet provide the same capability of having 2 DVR boxes (minus being able to record 4 different shows at one time--which you have problems if you do this--go outside, stop watching TV).
Wouldn't this be a novel idea... Kind of like switching boxes to Scientific Atlantic, which IMO are far superior to these slow Motorola boxes. |

| Yeah, I love my moto phone. I do agree that its user friendliness isn't the highest, but it is rich with features and menus.
I guess we can be grateful that MediaCom decided to upgrade the menus on the Moto DCTs. Charter Moto DCTs in Columbia still have the old User Interface which is really, really slow.
Did MediaCom ever use SA products? Back when SA boxes had two LEDs for channel and then 0-9 on top with a # and *. They were about the size of an original NES game system. Anyone else remember those boxes? |
