You poor thing. Well, depending on how bad you wanted to make that business call, you just might be required to interrupt your "sleep hours" or, god forbid, delay your breakfast.
When I know I will be on the phone for three hours or more, I should forego breakfast? I should forego being alert when I speak to customer service? That makes so much sense. Thank you for saying that I should willing present myself as a sacrifical lamb to some damn business that has already screwed up something badly and that I want straightened out. In the case of Dell, it took SIX MONTHS OF DELL HELL on the phone, for many hours, three or four days a week and I should just totally disrupt my circadian rhythms (badly mess with my health in other words) because I want a company to make something right that is wrong and that is their fault not mine? Well, thank for that great advice.

Ok, I found one for you pre-XP guys that dont want to d/l the whole resource kit...that seems to be safe:

Thanks caffeinator See Profile! Just ran it and it appears to do the job on my Win2k Pro box. Why couldn't MS have provided a tool? One more irritation from them.

Actually the link below shows you how to do it manually...sort of. See Method 2.

How to configure daylight saving time for the United States in 2007
»support.microsoft.com/?kbid=914387

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones\ contains the actual time zone code.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation *appears* to be the time zone selected for the machine in question.

I *assume* all you need to change is the \Time Zones\, since most of us aren't moving.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, they do..but it's unconfortably complicated for most people. And, why download a multi-Mb resource kit, when a 27Kb file will do?

Odd..I really think M$ wants to push as hard as possible to make people upgrade by withholding support. A rude tactic IMHO.

You'll notice the Win2k Resource Kit brings up a 404 removed...

I hope everyone using the TZEDIT.exe is following the use of the tool by (from MS article):

"Click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then double-click Date/Time.
h. Click the Time Zone tab.
i. Select a different time zone than the (GMT-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada); Tijuana time zone, and then click Apply.
j. Click (GMT-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada); Tijuana, and then click OK.

Note Steps i and j are required for the new changes to take effect."
(step i being any time zone and step j being your time zone)

I agree. That is also evidenced by the critical vulnerability that exists in WMP 6.4.

Thanks for the info. Libra

Funny though, I'd done the edit, and after being rebooted it still had the setting change I made when I pulled up the TZEDIT.

I guess the control panel deal is to set it into the registry some different way or locale.

Hey, long as it works, right?
