Well i was told my usage is 300 times over regular user , without telling me what it is. Well i wish someone can tell Comcast Unlimited internet means Unlimited. This is not 10Mb a month Limit for $20 on your Cell phone EVDO.
I can imagine how many people would drop there Mobile Carriers if they start calling people with free weekend and nights and tell them you talking to much on weekend and at night you have to limit it to 300 times less.
With all the video and radio out there and more then 2-3 computers per household Comcast is totally out of day on this. |

You right , its much cheaper for Comcast to have a Grandparents who barely using there connection with single computer. or me , Family of 4 with 5 computers , working from home 50% of the time and using all i can find for FREE on inet including FREE RADIO , FREE VIDEO , FREE PICTURES , FREE NEWS and paying extra $40 for extra ips and bandwidth. sure i can see whats wrong with that picture. |

Comcast does not advertise "Unlimited Internet". Well, not now. They may have years ago when they were comparing their service with the typical dial service.
Dial service was, and still is, "limited". My old dial up provider wanted customers to be online no more than 2 hours per day, on average. Before that I had a provider which offered 5 hours of Internet connection for a flat monthly fee, but started a meter running at a hellacious clip when that limit was exceeded.
By contrast, Comcast has always allowed subscribers to maintain a connection without time constraints, or limits.
Whether Comcast ever advertised "Unlimited Service", or not, what Comcast was offering in competition with dial service time constraints was not "Unlimited Service", but 24/7 service.

BBSes weren't ISPs. Most times I was never able to use them. Between busy signals (you were downloading that file all night long, remember?) and simply not being there when the call was made, most BBSes I tried weren't much use.

There were plenty of them here in Pittsburgh.
Grab a map of California and look up Sheridan. Probably smaller than Sheridan, Wyoming. Except for GEnie, I never did find a service which was a local call.
Astragate came later, in the period of the real Internet. They never announced it in writing, but when I asked, once, they stated that they expected the customer to spend no more time online that 2 hours in any given 24.
I have also checked the AUP/TOS for at&t Yahoo! HSI. The AUP/TOS also covers at&t Yahoo! Dial. They do not explicitly prohibit servers on the DSL side, but they do explicitly prohibit servers on the Dial side. I wonder why?
(HINT: Connection time. They don't want customer hogging the dial connection 24/7. You can't run most servers on much less than 6 hours a day.)
Unlimited never meant "unlimited volumes of data", it only ever applied to "unlimited connect time"; i.e., "24/7".

| Finally got my internet back. I'm wondering if everyone who's internet went off uploaded alot? Because for the past couple years I have gone over 400 GBs, I have also gone over a TB a few times and nothing has ever happened to me. Normally I do not upload because I use newsgroups, so I really don't need to upload at all. I just recently started sharing on torrents and this past month of November I uploaded 30 gigs which is about 20 more than I usually do. The only other time I got a call from comcast in my 5 years of use was when I uploaded alot in one month. After that I just stuck to download like I said and I ALWAYS went over the 400 gb mark.
When I was talking to the comcast guy today he said that they do these monthly audits to see who is a high bandwidth user and he said I just happened to be in the audit for last month. I explained to him that I have gone over 400 gbs basically every month for a few years and nothing ever happened and that I never received a call from comcast.
So the only conclusion I can come to is that they actually called me because I was uploading too much like the last time. So did the rest of you upload alot? |

| Wow my internet is MUCH faster now. Normally I would get 800k download but now I am getting 3200k from the speak easy test. And it's not just a little boost or anything, because I have checked on newsgroups too and it stays the same speed. This is insane, MUCH faster speed and I can't even use it to it's full potential. |

In competition with ISPs which limited connect time, how would anybody confuse unlimited connect time with unlimited data volume?

I always download alot and I have never had this problem before the only difference between this time and other was that I uploaded alot so I was wondering if the rest of you did the same? |
