Verizon order "on hold" because they didn't lay the fiber?

I am seriously pissed off right now. I am moving into my newly built house on 12/16 (Saturday). My Verizon TV/Internet install date WAS the 16th. I just got a call this morning from Verizon saying that my order has to be placed on hold and transferred to construction & engineering because there is no conduit under my street for them to run the fiber to the house. He said they have to still get permits from the city and they will call me at a later date with an ETA. How does this happen? How can nobody realize that they aren't going to provide services to my house and the other 8 houses that are closing that week. Every other street so far in this new development has Verizon service...and they have to go an F-up on mine?

This may not be any consolation, but at least you weren't left sitting at home Saturday wondering where the tech was...

Does that mean you can't get any voice/data service or just no FIOS-based service, e.g. did they run copper?

Funny. You got an install date without the fiber. I got the fiber but can't get an install date.

...

I live on a hill. There are seven streets that cut across it and then reconnect on the ends. Mexican crews up from TX put the fiber down 4 of them and on my street they stopped two houses from the end. I tried to find out why but was informed in bad english that I needed to talk to a Supervisor or Boss as some of them called him. I never got the chance since he always seemed to be missing.

The service has been available here since Sept. 05. Guess what, numerous complaints exactly like the OP. Also my neighbor who is two doors down was told they'd need to do a 'major' extension. He's still waiting and it's been months. Everyone on the street has the service, but him.

One further note. We have a big tree where the main line runs. They took the fiber and ran it up and down across through the branches - it's in there tight touching 9 of them solid. Whenever the wind blows the whole tree shakes the line. We've been waiting till it gets pulled free of the telephone polls.

So how long did they tell you this might take to build out the rest. I am in the same situation waiting for engineering to finish the plans for a future build out. The skipped 10 houses on my street as well.

Re: ...

You know Mexicans are everywhere in the US. They are not all from Tx.

Course nobody ever mentions the canadians working at hotels in places like Fargo ND

I don't know about the copper, as I am not getting any voice services.

Still no word from anyone from Verizon on the situation. I have my builder looking into it also. The whole development is supposed have already been ready for installs. My street is the only street that this problem has come up.

The "Mexicans" I spoke to came in a contractors Truck (some company name was on the side that I never heard of)with a small magnetic Verizon sign on the back and on the trailer with the Fiber roll - both with a Texas license plate. This was a very surprising event in my neighborhood. One person called the Police because they had no idea who these people were, moving all around their houses.

They told me they were up from Texas. I guess I am taking some liberties with the Mexican assumption, but because they were unable to communicate fluently to any of us it seemed likely.

Are you sure they were Mexican and not Guatemalans?

verizon underground crews =mostly mexicans (some legal, some not) its also pretty safe to assume verizon is the only utility company in the united states that doesnt do any checks at all for the techs that work for the contractors. its pretty well just hire a contractor and let them go to it with anyone they want. all welcome no matter what your background.

I have fiber to the premises, ONT in the basement, phone service on fiber and their database says I can't get FIOS.
