| Right, it's like the conventional polygraphs: the proposition that they detect falsehoods is based on the assumption that what they do detect corresponds to falsehood.
Conventional polygraphs report on heart and respiration rates, skin conductivity, etc.. Certain changes in these may or may not correspond to lying. The voice stress analyzers detect something that may or may not correspond to lying. I'm not convinced it has even been tested realistically - obviously you can test it with requested lies in artificial situations, but to test it in real conditions you would have to send out detectives to independently find out whether statements were or were not true.
It may be useful, but there should be some disclaimers about the very questionable reliability. |
