I just got off the phone with his sister and she's really needing some happy stories about him right now, especially from the meet and greet as it was two days before.

I came home from a delightful morning only to hear this terrible news.
Rich was a very warm and caring man. At each of the meetings, I made it a point to share some time with him. He had a firm handshake, an even firmer hug, looked you right in the eye when you spoke to him, and never had anything unkind to say about anyone.
I am going to miss this man very much.
My sincere condolences to his family. I am certain I have more pictures of him. I will search the old notebook and desktops. |

This is really sad news. Rich was a great guy to have at the M+G's. I posted a picture of the sausage that he ordered at the Forest Hills meet...man Dv had some fun jokes with that.

Wow...
A lot of people dont understand the bonds that can be established via forums/online communities. Even in this day and age of where the use of such communities are widespread, people still do not understand.
I have never been to any of the meet and greets or posted in this particular Forum regularly... but I understand the connection and bond you had with the departed and I just wanted to extend my sympathies and condolences not just to his family, but to you guys as well....
I just felt that I had to say something.

| The first time I met Rich was at the first m & g I attended. It was in Hoboken, and I was 36 hours away from boarding the jet to retrieve my 3 year old daughter after her six month visit to JiangJin, China with my in-laws. It was excruciating for me (but good for her), so I hadn't made her visit there known to anyone here until a week or so before I came to that meeting. Rich came up to me that evening and told me he was very proud of me for making the sacrifice that I did for the good of my child, and my wife's family. He couldn't imagine doing something like that himself. He and MsTerra pretty much said the same things to me that evening. I'll never forget that.
Then he gave me a big hug.
Then he spaced off his share of the bill and split.  |
