Never take the trolls seriously. It's funny how they always come on here acting all elite. But never can be bothered to offer any real help. This is just some disgruntled individual blowing off steam at customers. According to them you should be punished for thinking out loud and trying to troubleshoot your own problems. And when you use deductive reasoning according to them your just being an idiot. Unfortunately the internet hasn't come up with an effective way to punish these morons just yet. Maybe one day they will get bored and go crawl under the bridge in Seattle where they belong!!

Then again they would ruin the atmosphere for this likeable creature. So maybe they should just be shot into space.

Yes, looks good, but your upload is about (average) 150kbs less than what the average tier should get that you have. Here is another example of how a flash test site works, this time it's the opposite way. Now keep in mind I have the 10/1 tier:

« SpeedGuide.net Speed Test Results »
9038 kbps down (~9.04 Mbps, 1103 KB/s)↓
2057 kbps up (~2.06 Mbps, 251 KB/s)↑
5120 KB downloaded in 4.641 seconds
2048 KB uploaded in 8.157 seconds
Tested on: 2006.12.21 16:39 EST
Tested from: »www.speedguide.net/speedtest/

Isn't everything Insight's fault?

It's probably Insights fault that the flash based speed tests don't work right.

Hi,

I don't think that is the problem, even if CPU isn't the issue. I have a very high end PC, nothing running, and every site that uses flash reports a slower speed. Not that it is actually slower, just that when the file is finished uploading, or downloading on flash sites, there is a split second from where it is finished to where it is calculated.

That is where I think the discrepancy comes in. That problem doesn't happen in java, because it operates separate from a time stamp that flash doesn't operate.

The Flash tests are more CPU dependent than the Java tests.
If you have any high-processor-utilization apps running (especially things like DC projects that eat up all the CPU available), shut them down or pause them - then run the Flash test(s) - you'll be more likely to get equivalent, or at least closer results. Also note that the 'payload' for the 2 types of tests are different, so you'll never see exactly the same result.

You ever notice that when you use a "Flash" player for download tests they seem to be less than those that a Java based?

My uploads on Flash are always about 100-200 kbs less than on Java. The downloads are only slightly less.
