Any 1080i content that originated from film (i.e., almost all HD TV shows) can be straightforwardly converted back to 1080p/24 (and 1080p/48 with frame doubling) via reverse-pulldown deinterlacing. CBS even calls their HD broadcasts "1080 lines, interlacing and progressive".

I'm not surprised at the article. Most "netheads" seem not to care about HD. Maybe because alot of them watch their content on 19" monitor screens? On tiny screens like that, SD DVD's are good enough.
Or 17" CRT for me with my HDTV tuner card (don't have a HDTV).
