| Slow sub-domain...
Does it make any sense that my primary domain, ie www.mydomain.com loads very quickly but my subdomain, ie sub.mydomain.com loads very slowly?
The subdomain main page is mostly text, one small logo, so it's not the size of it.
They ping to the same place, anyone ever seen this happen before? |

| Hello,
Could you give us examples of the problem? That problem sounds highly unusual, although (if your host uses cPanel), it doesn't sound totally unreasonable. -- Ed - »www.elitehosts.com |

join:2003-09-19 | My host does use cPanel, does that cause a slow sub-domain??
I have another domain hosted with the same company, with sub-domains, and they're not slow, using cPanel too. |

I've seen many crazy things happen with cPanel servers so don't be surprised about issues such as these. Unfortunately, I (and the rest of us) cannot make an accurate diagnose until we look at the logs, look over the config (Apache configs are nice), and troubleshoot the problem. This is best done by asking your hosting company to look into it -- they SHOULD have admins who will be able to find the cause.
Like I said before, this problem sounds HIGHLY unusual so I think there's something fishy going on in the configs. Good luck! -- Ed - »www.elitehosts.com |

| Turns out my problem was "simply" that the name servers my site was on had been changed, and I hadn't modified the entries in my Dotster account.
I had been notified by the webhost earlier, but disregarded the message as just "junk" and didn't really read it. (dumb I know now..)
I'm usually good about reading the communications from them, but just didn't this time.
Anyway, it's all good now. |

| reply to dibbb Glad to hear your issue is solved.
We've seen similar situations and one good way to check is always to check with www.dnsstuff.com -> DNS Reports and so on to test out the connection and check for errors.
