amysheehan,
I do believe you've hit the nail on the head. I didn't realize that was available in control panel. On the general tab, mine states it is set to interactive versus express mode. Consequently, I infer the choice to install will be offered if updates are available. I am going to leave it running for now.

Another question, will Norton install updates now via a limited user account?

I don't believe so, but will double check.

EDIT TO ADD: Using a limited user account - try manually running LU -- What happens ????

Interactive will not prevent automatic updates from applying. Express mode is just a very simplified, non-interactive UI for manual updates.

Most updates will apply via a limited user account. In some cases the updates won't be downloaded and their entries will "fail" indicating that the user does not have appropriate access.

Update failed. Doesn't look like limited will install.

Confusing since it says in interactive mode, you select the updates you want to install.

Edit: I'll probably end up unchecking via control panel since my routine is boot up to admin, update security software and log out to a limited user account.
