Word on the street in D.C. is that the ATT/BellSouth merger deal and approval may be imminent. Don't be surprised if it comes today or tomorrow...
Still nothing in stone, of course, but apparently they're almost there...

An ATT/Bellsouth merger isn't going to do the Bellsouth customers in our area any good, its only good for shareholders. -- Prove it... |

| Not really. All of those FCC meetings were on the calendar regardless of whether the merger was on the agenda or not. This is actually word that the parties are close to a deal. But, as I said, nothing's set in stone. Could be tomorrow, could be next week. But apparently major hurdles have been cleared.
We shall see. I wouldn't mind giving Uverse a try when they get it rolled out here. Right now it's Comcast or satellite. I always thought this was a "competition is good" site...

I'm curious as to how all the major hurdles could be cleared if we still have a stalemate on the board that approves the merger with one of the members not voting. As long as one member doesn't vote, it is going to be a 2 to 2 split and this isn't going anywhere fast. Unless, of course, ATT and Bellsouth got smart and figured that they needed to make some concessions.

But in all honesty, Bellsouth definitely could come up with something better than that crap UVerse and having been a Bellsouth customer for years, ATT isn't going to be an improvement. If the merger is turned down, which has no ill effects whatsoever, Bellsouth will simply proceed with the plans they have in the pipe for their triple play. Unfortunately, neither company has the long term vision of Verizon. -- Prove it... |

| Interesting list of concessions from a cursory examination of the list... There are only a few interesting concessions - universal DSL rollout and unbundled DSL. The UVerse concession is nothing great since its a non-starter from the starting line. The lack of a FTTH guarantee to hold their feet to the fire really gut is a disappointment.
You either have to be on crack or a fully indoctrinated bellhead to be excited about the merger because nothing great is coming out of this merger if you are a customer... -- Prove it... |
