| [Info] what ID is required to board the flight
I am a citizen of u.s. however, I am still obtaining the passport.
As new year is coming soon, our family and I wanna go to san francisco for visiting our grandpa. This is our family first time traveling within u.s.
What ID requirement is necessary to board the flight? we all have the driver license and the cert of citizenship. Are these adequate?
Please help |

| reply to goingtoSFO "In the U.S., a passport or other government-issued photo ID (national, state, or local) is required for travelers age 18 and over. If you do not have a photo ID, you can also use two forms of non-photo ID, one of which has to issued by a state or federal agency. Travelers may be asked to show this ID at subsequent points, such as at the gate, along with their boarding passes."

1 edit | reply to goingtoSFO Bring two forms of ID if you can, just to be safe. However, recently I've noticed the policies becoming a bit more relaxed again. Most of the time I only have to present one form of identification once (it's always been my driver's license), and it is as I'm going through the security check. |

2 edits | reply to goingtoSFO Passport, Government issued ID, or Driver's License. If a Student under the age of 16, you only need Passport or Student ID. More & more students are now carrying Passports, due to it gets you through the security procedures with no hassles.
Also, if a person does not have a Government issued ID or Driver's License, or Passport, you do not need anything, but will have to go through extensive Security check @ the TSA screening point. Just all you need is a piece of mail & any other proof show residency in the U.S. (ie check). I have even checked people in as Selectee's without any ID and they have had no problems with the extra screening.
This is coming from someone who was a certified GSC (Ground Security Coordinator) & Senior agent for a United Express carrier (Air Wisconsin) in my past life (ie previous job). -- I threw out the map a long time ago. Now I follow my own direction! |

| reply to goingtoSFO I am not a US Citizen, I am just a green card holder (permanent resident). On the two trips I have had inside the US, being to San Francisco and New York, all I ever needed was to show my license. I brought with me my social security card, green card and immigration paper but soon found it to be excessive. License will do. |
