Time dependent sync loss suggests interference as the most likely cause. These FAQs might help: »Ameritech - SBC FAQ »How do dimmers, electronic switches and treadmills interfere with DSL? »Ameritech - SBC FAQ »My DSL loses sync regularly. | nwrickert: Thanks for the links. Started reading the dimmers, electronic switches, etc... And it came to me. My outside garage lights and porch lights are on a dusk/dawn w/ motion detection. When the motion is picked up, the lights go from half brilliance to full brilliance.
I turned off all the outside lights, and viola, the connection issue went away... I'm just curious as to why this started happening now, after 1.5 years of service...
Now I need to figure out which set it is...
Connections' been rock solid now for 2 hours...
Thanks for the help!!! |

| I'm just curious as to why this started happening now, after 1.5 years of service...Probably a defective component, perhaps a recent failure. Or maybe a failed ground is allowing increased amounts of interference into the wiring.
I'm glad you have identified the cause. -- Never underestimate the ability of a large organization to screw up |

Hoosiers' excuse for everything from unexplained pregnancy to strange electrical happenings. We were one of the few that knew the time without changing the clocks twice a year. I just wish now that we have changed that it would stay on DST year round. Dark at 545 pm is crap.
On to the OP's issue. I would say you have a photo cell or other regulator that is aging and breaking down. Anything that has juice running through it can change operating characteristics at any time. Just be glad that it is something you own causing the issue other than a neighbor. Hard to make neighbors fix these things when it comes to dsl. -- My posts are mindless ramblings, use at your own risk. |

| Well I verified today that it is my outside garage lights... So, for now, they are shut off. I will have to find some new fixtures.
Shadow: Yes the lights have a photocell and also have a voltage regulator (they come on full bright when motion is detected, after a certain time, they go back to half brilliance w/o motion).
Thanks to everyone for your help!!! |
