Weird Install prices?

Wow it has been so long since i posted here, been a bellsouth user for about a year now since covad doesnt support my new area. I am moving back but when i thought about the costs of joining lbdsl again i hesitated. Just to start back up I have to pay $100 just to install myself. It struck me as odd as a dry line costs $25 more for soemone to actually come out as to someone just setting up your line at a remote location. I was just curious as to see why this is done. Its understandable that you have costs to setup these lines, but i doubt its $100 worth as your offering it free in other overpriced packages.

Thank you for your input, however all install cost are set based on our cost to install the actually service. Without knowing what type of service you are quoting it is hard to answer any questions you have, however, here is a basic list of install charges:

ADSL Line Share Residential - $100
ADSL Line Share SOHO - $50
ADSL Dry Line Residential - $225
ADSL Dry Line SOHO - $225
SDSL and IDSL - $250
T1 - $500

The above pricing does NOT include any promo's or rebates which will change from time to time.

Question: Why the high price on a residential line compared to a SOHO account?

Because of our cost to install service, again each type of service have different cost and overhead.

No No I get that part! =P

I am not here to question your prices but I dont get why it would differ. You are offering the SAME service other then a static IP at more of an install cost and but a LARGE increase in price per month. Extra email accounts + Reverse is not worth it. =(

Like it matters but that install cost made me change my mind. It doesnt seem logical to pay such an inflated cost when bellsouth will do it for free. Granted they own there own lines but the residential fee is really well priced but to get a static ip will kill your budget
