Not really, they are all tied together.

I would like to see Quest buy out Embarq...There just as horrible as Sprint DSL was. Here in Florida, Cox is the best choice here.

I wonder when the other telcos will be offering high speed internet, television over the lines (not satellite) like FIOS is?

Can't say, I do not know what is going on the East Coast. maybe your area can get something like our UTOPIA and IProvo initiatives going out there, assuming they have not already bought the laws to prevent that from happening. That will get the corporations moving.

But beware, it is easy for the corporates to buy a law that makes it hard for a true people's/muni system to work, let the people do the work and the corporates are there to skin the gravy. And then to piously say, "We told you it would not work".

LOL... IMO, if it weren't for Cingular complicating things for BellSouth and Sprint buying Nextel, areas that were Sprint and are now Embarq -- and not just in Florida and the Carolinas -- would probably be part of BellSouth by now.

Once again, the bigger independents don't get it. The Baby Bells and many smaller independents are either doing TV now or are getting there, but Embarq, Windstream (not including the former Standard Telephone areas in north Georgia where they do traditional wired cable, albeit with old plant), CenturyTel, etc. are nowhere to be seen.

Florida is outside Qwest's 14 state territory. Not likely to happen.
