Re: [DIRECTV] Looking to move from Comcast back to DirecTV

satellite on demand is a joke.
I wouldn't call it a joke. It just plain doesn't exist.

If it did exist and they had like 3 movies on it, then it would be a joke.

You are generalizing the quality of Comcast HD across the board yet you only have experience with a few systems. Subjective is definitely accurate. Don't assume that all Comcast systems perfom at the same level nationwide considering that transitions are in motion everywhere.
I never stated anywhere that my opinion was less subjective than any other. But it is my opinion based on my own observations. Your experience obviously differs, and that is your perogative.
Just do a search for HD Lite and you will get plenty of stories about loyal satellite customers showing their frustration.
I did perform a search on that term and found it being used primarily on cable-related forums as a made up pejorative for satellite service. It has no basis in fact, however, as the HD service offered, at least by DirecTV (I have no experience with Dish) is consistent with the HD specifications. The specifications do not mention a "lite" version.

I have consistently stated that to MY observation, the picture quality on the Comcast systems I've seen here, while being very good, is slightly softer than that on the DirecTV systems. Both systems give the full HD experience when properly installed (which has been a problem with Comcast setups in many cases).

Do you actually think that Directv is gonna advertise an inferior hd offering as hd lite? Of course its made up. Just go spend some quality time at avs and you'll find plenty of evidence. Your eyes are subjectively better than mine so i'll call myself convinced. The guy that filed the class action lawsuit against Directv for their hd quality might disagree with you though. I just got out of traffic court and i'm too tired to look it up...

There. I fixed the last line of your post.

Good grief. I never stated there weren't bad installs of any of the systems mentioned. You Comcast fanboys are way too sensitive and take this stuff far too seriously.

Apparently you didn't search too hard. There are tons of posts over at Satelliteguys.us and DBS Talk. Do some searching there and you'll see posts from satellite customers complaining about satellite service.

Here two to get you started, »www.engadgethd.com/2007/01/11/th···hd-lite/, »www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t···=hd+lite.

Perhaps you could learn the definition of "primarily"? »dictionary.reference.com/browse/primarily

I used to participate in the DBSTalk forums until zealous right-wingers and cable fanboys began shouting matches that made useful discussions pointless.

So a discussion is pointless if it doesn't support your opinion? There's no fanboy action here, we're just stating information that you apparently already know but refuse to accept. The OP hasn't come back so how about we end this useless discussion? Go watch some HDTV...

If you'd read my posts I clearly stated that my opinion was subjective as were those that were counter to mine. I've not once discounted other people's opinions so your accusation of my "one-sidedness" is inaccurate. The OP asked for opinions of which is better, I gave mine, which is just as valid as those of others. Your "hit-and-run" tactic of making false accusations against someone then demanding the topic be dropped only points to your immaturity.

NOW the discussion can end.
