8054 dead - salvagable?

My 8054 finally packed up the other day. I'm now the proud owner of a proper router which doesn't crash when I try to transfer anything larger than about 1kb over wireless

Anyway - wondering if the 8054 is for the bin, or whether it can be saved? Seems a shame to bin it - we've been through a lot together.

When powered up, all lights come on and then stay on. Nothing else happens. I've tried unplugging power cable for a couple of hours. Also tred completely unpluging the power adaptor from the wall for several hours. Have also tried pressing reset button - and also tried holding reset button while powering up. So far nothing - all the lights come on, but not much else happens.

Anyone got any ideas?

I hate to say this but you should really junk it. I was the owner of one a LONG time ago and I hated it. It rebooted so easily so many times. Try a Linksys or even a Dlink, they are rock solid.

Re: 8054 dead - salvagable?

I've already got a new router - I went for a Netgear pre-N with gigabit hub.

But wondering if anything can be done for the 8054 - if it's possiuble to fix it, I'd used it as a repeater or something. It used to reboot on me all the time - it was fairly rubbish as a router and I wouldn't ever buy USr kit again. Ever. Not even the network cards! But still - I bought the thing, and if it can be saved I'd find a use for it...
