Blocking Ports?

I used to use many P2P file sharing programs. I can no longer connect with DC++, KaZaa (any version), Sharezaa, Limewire or Overnet. eMule and Ares work. I am a Road Runner customer. I have heard they are blocking some layer 4 ports. Is there a workaround?

The only ports RR blocks, according to the forum FAQ are
137, 138 & 445. I was using Shareaza last night and had
no trouble.

Are you using a router, and if so, do you have the ports
forwarded?

The other possibility is the Windows Firewall. There was a
post in alt.music.mp3.winmx where the poster said he could
no longer connect as a Primary. This was because a recent
update he did had turned the Windows Firewall back on.

RoadRunner does not block any ports, except the ones mentioned above which prevent Windows shared drives from being visible to your neighbours - which is a GOOD thing.

I don't use any of the P2P programs you mention, except on occasion eMule and Bittorrent, and they both work. I have used DC++ in the past with no problems.
