| [F@H] Can You Fold on Solaris ?
I am wondering whether Solaris 10 will support one of the folding clients. I've used the Linux client with great success on SuSe, but not sure if anything will run on Solaris.
Thanks. -- Lordy, I have loved some ladies and I have loved Jim Beam and they both tried to kill me in 1973. |

| I think Mousie does, but you may wait awhile for an answer from her. Last I heard she was headed out to sit on a boat in the middle of the water somewhere away from humans and the rush of real life for awhile.
She would not give me a definite answer on her intended date of return. That is just so rude, too! There are just so many things I want her to do! -- My Folding@Home Farm * Join Team Helix? * I am praying for Rebekah. |

| reply to opus74 Solaris Sparc or Solaris x86 ? The x86 linux client should in theory work on Solaris x86 with the linux compatibility libraries. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? Join Team Helix or Team Starfire! |

| reply to opus74 Hello, opus! Am outta' here tonight if, and that is becoming a rather big if, the weather, cooperates.
I am a big fan of Solaris 10 Unix, which runs its own version of linux natively.
I do not have any of the Solaris boxen running linux FAH, however, as I have XP Pro or Server 2003 as a dual boot on my machines, and happen to use Debian on the work machines that that do utilize linux.
I truly do not know how to run FAH on Solaris, as the linux component is a relatively new entity to me. I am not a primary linux user, but rather a Unix person, so there are many things that other folks prolly know a great deal more about.
Have you asked Tom Leibold? He is the first person that comes to mind, as there rarely seems to be much that he doesn't know about the hows and whys of linux. -- "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crispy and good with catsup." |

| Linux compatibility (lxrun) used to be something you had to install separately in previous versions of Solaris (7,8). It should be part of the OS in Solaris 10, but it may still be a separate choice amongst the installable packages. Unfortunately my Solaris experience is almost exclusively on the Sparc side and also getting dated. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? Join Team Helix or Team Starfire! |

Me too..I used to be a whiz at S/7, but I got an email the other day that they would send me a DVD w/S10 for x86 if I wanted it, so I thot why not ... then I was wondering if it would fold ... best of both worlds..??
Thanks !!!
