Nexxia dropped my line speed

I just switched to Teksavvy last week and on friday they raised my profile from 3mbit to 5mbit. My line is only capable of about 4.3mbit so the modem was running 99% capacity occupation.

Nexxia has dropped my profile this morning to 3mbit interleave. Why they didn't drop it to 4mbit is odd. Why they enabled interleaving is puzzling as the line was running 3mbit fast for about a year before I switched.

I've already talked to tech support and they're going to try to get me back to 4mbit fast path. The reason I'm writing this however is that a friend of mine who has an amazing line (6.5 mbit attainable) was dropped to 2.5mbit interleave the same time I was dropped. We're not on the same CO nor the same city for that matter.

Has anyone else been dropped?

Here's my line stats if anyone is curious:

Operational data report : near end (Downstream)
-----------------------------------------------
Attainable line rate : 5096 kbit/sec
Attainable Atm rate : 4352 kbit/sec
Used line rate : 3568 kbit/sec
Fast used Atm rate : 0 kbit/sec
Interleaved used Atm rate : 3008 kbits/sec
Rel. capacity occupation : 70
Noise Margin : 11 dB
Line attenuation : 52 dB
Output Power : 19 dBm

Operational data report : far end (Upstream)
--------------------------------------------
Attainable line rate : 1084 kbit/sec
Attainable Atm rate : 896 kbit/sec
Used line rate : 960 kbit/sec
Fast used Atm rate : 0 kbit/sec
Interleaved used Atm rate : 800 kbits/sec
Rel. capacity occupation : 89
Noise Margin : 8 dB
Line attenuation : 29 dB
Output Power : 12 dBm

And here's my friends:

Operational data report : near end (Downstream)
-----------------------------------------------
Attainable line rate : 7580 kbit/sec
Attainable Atm rate : 6496 kbit/sec
Used line rate : 3120 kbit/sec
Fast used Atm rate : 0 kbit/sec
Interleaved used Atm rate : 2496 kbits/sec
Rel. capacity occupation : 41
Noise Margin : 23 dB
Line attenuation : 36 dB
Output Power : 19 dBm

Operational data report : far end (Upstream)
--------------------------------------------
Attainable line rate : 1168 kbit/sec
Attainable Atm rate : 960 kbit/sec
Used line rate : 800 kbit/sec
Fast used Atm rate : 0 kbit/sec
Interleaved used Atm rate : 640 kbits/sec
Rel. capacity occupation : 68
Noise Margin : 16 dB
Line attenuation : 17 dB
Output Power : 12 dBm

That does raise an interesting question as to knowing why Bell is lowering profiles like that out of the blue. I've noticed lately similar posts like that or customers letting me know about this problem....will look into it.

According to a level 2 bell tech I spoke with before, bell lowers the profile if the occupation rate is above 90%. I had a similar problem last month when I was testing out my old Gnet bb0050 modem.

That doesn't explain my friend's downgrade as he was nowhere near 90%. And switching to interleave wasn't necessary either.

Bell does strange things from time to time. It's likely that the line stats that were pulled weren't his, as Bell sometimes maps line stats incorrectly, and he got downgraded.

PM me your information and your friends if he's a customer of ours (if not, he'll need to call his ISP) and we'll try and have things restored to as high a profile as possible.

Regards,

Rocky

Well, Bell did it again. My line has been switched to interleave again. Other people have been posting stats with much higher error rates than me. On top of that this line was with Sympatico for a year at 3meg fast path.

Also I got a loss of signal error. What would cause that?

Well look at me, I moved to Teksavvy and bell upped my profile. I've been trying to get them to do that for months.
