Here's another one for people... If you have aluminum siding and get it replaced with vinyl, for example, don't let the installers charge you for "disposal" of that siding. They sure as hell won't be taking it to a landfill ! They'll get paid by you to get rid of it and then they'll make a nice chunk of change at the scrap yard.
In fact, my brother-in-law had hail damage to his siding. The insurance company took his quotes for replacement, deducted approximately what the alum scrap would get, and cut a check for that amount ! Not sure if I agree with that or not... -- This is my .sig. I like it bold. |

I work in the telecom industry, and made a lot of money last year selling the used scrap we were replacing. What I did was 100% legal. However, some folks stole everything that wasn't nailed down, including new stock and copper that was already installed.
I have a pps slide show (about 500K) that will detail the negative aspects of stealing copper. If anyone would like to see it, and only if you have a strong stomach, email me @ hovno2002@hotmail.com. If there is a place to post it, let me know. It will make anyone think twice about stealing copper. |
