LOL.... Oops... just checked in my mailbox and you're right, it's ren_kolka@dslreports.com.

Sorry 'bout that.

Bummer, ren's email addy has left the server:
quote:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'{ren@dslreports.com}: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table'

Per:
»/contacts

Looks like I need to append a '_kolka' after the 'ren'.

Generally one of the head people ren@dslreports.com is probably one of the better connected ones in the organization and might know who to talk to.
Okay, sent an email notifying them of the apparent bustage of the DSLReports implementation.

Thx for the lead!

Guess this is a follow-up area within dslr as well (»/coinfo/clli/CHHMON17)
I think the DSLReports version is busted tho?

I enter 416-969 (TTBOMK an Asquith-based NXX; used to terminate at Bay & Bloor) and it's saying "2664 ISLINGTON AV (EBCK)". It gives the same addy for 416-925 which used to terminate in the vicinity of Avenue & Bloor, and presumably still does.

TelcoData.US says Asquith for both, which jives with my recollections.

Wish I knew who to contact at DSLReports to notify them of this possible bug. Maybe someone else does?

Heh, if there's a Bell logo on it then I'm disposed to think that it's *not* a CO. [/blockquote]

Thanks for the site, was exactly what I was looking for. So about that building I thought was a CO, the site points directly where I thought the CO was. It's basically a small brick house (kinda like a big shack) with no windows and a Bell logo.

So it seems the CO is 1.18 miles (3 minutes drive) from me physically. Now I live right by the main road, and the CO is on the main road as well, so I would suspect it reasonable to think that the telephone line is would be straight.

Bell provided us right now with a Speedstream 5260. So I would think it reasonable that a 5360 would suffice @ a distance of 1.18 miles.

What's your opinion?
I could get a speedstream 5360 for $25.00 shipped.

it depends on your lines.
I've seen some people "according to bell" that are 4km away and get full 5meg sync and some at 2km that can't get 5meg
it also largly depends on your inside wiring.

Usually, what is the maximum distance from a CO one can be and still be able to get full speed over DSL? I realize that there's many factors to take into consideration as well, but this is an important factor in the equation...

Heh, if there's a Bell logo on it then I'm disposed to think that it's *not* a CO.

Why? Well, from my experience Bell doesn't like to 'advertise' the locations of the CO's ... at least in years past. If one asked for an enumeration of CO's from Bell they'd not provide the info.

Yet anyone in the telecom biz, working downtown, knew that there was CO called 'Asquith' ... and there's only one street, a quite small one, in TO called "Asquith" (downtown no less - Bloor & Yonge)... and thereupon sits a mid-sized, windowless building .. a CO perchance?!

With no Bell identifying info on it. At least not in years past ... maybe they're 'branding' the CO's these days?!

Anyway, being as small a building as you say, it's probably not a CO. These buildings in past had /floors/ of old telecom switching gear. When everything went digital they had much leftover real-estate.

Then again, it /could/ be a relatively new, very-small, CO.

Is there anyway to know?
Enter your area code and NXX (1st three digits of your 7-digit phone number) here:

So will teksavvy work with this modem?
Short: Yes

Long: TekSavvy themselves (or more specifically, their service) doesn't care about DSL modem types. If your modem can connect to Bell's DSL gear (which always [for all intents and purposes] sits between you and /any/ DSL-based ISP) then TekSavvy and every other DSL-based ISP can serve you.
