| Extreme Plus is Coming :D
Extreme Plus (it used to be HSI Elite) is coming.
It's being launched in March. 18mbit. $99.95 + $3 modem rental.
Heres the catch: The bandwidth limit is 90gb (yeah, 10gb less then extreme). Your overage is charged at $1.25/Gb to a maximum of $200. So basically, the maximum monthly amount is $299.95 + $3 modem rental. That would include 90gb up to 160gb. Anything over 160gb is not charged to a maximum of 300gb. Once you hit 300gb your connection is suspended until the end of the bill cycle. |

@telus.net | Even if it does come that is an awful deal, especially if the upload is still only 800-1000kbps. |

| reply to Newfie So far this morning, with SecureIX not running, and relying solely on Rogers, bittorrent is running at approx 2kbs. Personally, I don't give a shiate if Rogers implements a 100 Gbs system if all you can do is retrieve the mail and get the weather. It's a Ferrari in a 40km zone. |

| reply to Newfie This is just sad in a funny way. I'm not touching this with a stick. More speed, less data consumption you can use per month. $200 over usage charges, and you still can be suspended.
Are you kidding me?!#!@
I forgot to mention that Rogers is still throttling your traffic to point where its not USABLE anyways, because obviously they DON'T have a network that can support this type of bandwidth!
They can claim they can support all customers at 38mbps all they want, but when you put restrictions on that service, it means you really can't!
Rogers needs to back to the marketing table and rethink this one over. |

Newsgroupos currently downloading at 728KB/s. How cares about BT. I'll take the extra speed. Lots of things to do other than BT. |

| reply to Newfie ....So I'm going to rent a Lexus from Rogers today for a great deal of $999/mo. With the rental I can only drive it 100km/mo. If I go over 100km, they will start charging me $12.50/km to a maximum of $2000. So, if I max that out, I would be paying $2999/mo.
If I come to an unlucky circumstance that I have driven 400km in that month, Rogers will come and take my car away for the remainder of that month!
It takes 2 minutes to back out of the drive way because the reverse speed is too slow. On the 400 series highways, Rogers forcibly restricts the speed of my car so that it will only go 20km/hr. Unless of course I secretly put SecureIX400 fuel in my car that some how screws up the restriction Rogers puts on it.
Yeah, great. Thanks for the service. -- [Internet] Rogers Yahoo! Extreme 6mbps/800kbps [Modem] Scientific Atlanta WebSTAR DPX2100 DOCSIS 2.0 [Router] WRT54g DD-WRT #23 SP2 [Computer] Core 2 Duo 2.67GHz 2GB RAM Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum BFG GeForce 7900 GT OC. |

| reply to anon454656 The problem there is that you have to pay an *extra* fee to use your connection to download data.
All that means is that Rogers is obviously unable to provide the service that's being paid for. -- Therapy is expensive. Bubble wrap is free. |

This sounds good, but who cares if I can download my email or Windows updates faster.. P2P throttled to nothing is still nothing on a faster connection! |

Sheesh ... where do they think they're going to find customers for that?
Mind you, I wouldn't mind betting that we're going to see lower caps and added charges for going over on the other tiers! |

$99, and up to $200 overcharge. So up to $300/month for a capped, throttled connection. Are they out of their f'n minds? -- GO LEAFS GO! |
