Teksavvy and the whoopass contained within

So I finally had those lazy buggers at bell flip the switch on my line. (I remember Bell headach's working for Interlynx back in the day before primus torpedo'd us).

Here is my reveiew

Speed:
4300 kbit down average
600 Average

Torrents are now fast in both directions (hey rogers, lick my coin purse)

I had to call into tech support twice lastnight. First time because my modem was not linked, then again to verify my password. The lady I spoke to (kristen?? or kate??) was super efficent. I told her my problem, and within seconds we were in the modem and setting adsl config opermode=multimode and away i went.

I have nothing at all bad to say about this company, you guys came VERY highly recommended to me, and you've not disappointed.

well, the only disapointment is that you based in chattam, and as such I can't be at your door petitioning for a job (I miss working in an ISP, beats net admining for a non tech company anyday of the week.

Maybe consider registering a username here, and then do a 'persistent' review that impacts the TSI ranking on this site?

»/docontrib/ISP/2564 will get you started for the review.

»www.CanadianISP.com is another good place to send the love.

A sporran perchance?

I like beaver trim, myself

@teksavvy.com

"A sporran perchance?"

LOL!

Honestly I meant it more as used by the great Stewie in the family Guy movie .... but your idea works also .

I will get the word out on teksavvy, I've a great many friends in the online gaming scene here in ontario (usdn.ca) and a client base for my small business that all rely on some form of high speed.

Just letting Rocky and his crew know, they are top notch.

Behold, now with registration

and yeah, teksavvy is still kickin ass.

Quick question, i'm on 100gig peer1. Assuming I get close to that line, is it possible to drop the account to cognent until the end of the billing cycle?

Oi, and I thought my double-pun (albeit a redundancy) in the last line was the bestest :O

Hoping the mod isn't an easily offended member of the ovarianly-endowed ... :/

AIUI you can, but only once (for no charge).

Which seems reasonable - otherwise people would just milk the Peer for the first 100GB, then cutover to the Cogent toward the end of each month.

AIUI the costs to TSI for traffic over Peer1 are rather higher than over Cogent ... which is how they can 'afford' to provide unlimited, but only over Cogent.

I assume you know about the GB-usage page at:

And since it only 'accounts' the traffic at the time of PPPoE disconnection, if you want the most accurate numbers cycle your PPPoE login (logout, then login again), then check the stats.

HTH.

If you're a major downloader, you might want to spend the extra $10/mo and get both a peer1 and cogent account. Use the Peer1 for gaming and Cogent when you're doing mass downloads (for example when you're at work or sleeping).

You might also want your friends/clients to mention that you referred them to Teksavvy, they give you credit off your monthly bill for referrals.

I few suggestions to Rocky:

(not necessarily benefitting me)

Some ISTOP style deal where PPPoE sessions that start and end during off-peak hours would not be counted for monthly traffic. (assuming peer1 would allow such a deal).

Or, when you exceed 100gigs, you can disconnect the session and reconnect, at which point you are automatically downgraded to Cogent for the rest of the month. When the next billing cycle begins, you can reconnect and you're again on Peer1.

Just ideas.

traffic has to be counted somewhere, there is no such thing as free bandwidth

for the second idea, I can see people signing up for the peer1 option and abusing it.

Hey JF,

I have to agree with Flash on this.... Using more bandwidth on off-peak would just land-up raising our low end on the 95th percentile. The Cogent thing.... We do something similar to that right now. If someone goes over the 100GB limit we give them the choice to either pay the overage or change to the Cogent (a one time, uni-directional move).

you were listed in my signup

I believe that gets you 1$ a month off?

If someone listed another in the sign-up and you haven't received the referral, just let us know and we'll get it added. You however do have to have had the person say it during the sign-up as to go back without proof won't get you the dibs...
