LoJack might be interesting if you have a notebook that supports it on the BIOS level, which makes it considerably more difficult to remove.
However, if you don't, it's really not going to survive a formatting or anything. A friend and myself tinkered around with his notebook that had LoJack on it software-only (no special BIOS support), and it was almost laughable.
