Here's a small FAQ on TekSavvy Dry-DSL. If you want to add to it, just PM me and I'll do so...
************************************************
Q: Is Unlimited & Premium available for Dry-DSL? A: Yes, the only time we don't encourage Unlimited is for VoIP as the quality of the routing can impact the voice service.
************************************************
Q: How are band rates calculated? A: Here's how the Band Rates are established:
TERMS: NAS - Network Access Service
Band A: - Company's downtown core serving areas: * Toronto (Adelaide, Asquith, Simcoe, Eglington) * Montreal (Belmont, Ontario, Atwater, St-Dominique) * Ottawa (O'Connor)
Band B: - Generally exchanges with >250,000 NAS
Band C: - Generally exchanges with 10,000 to 250,000 NAS
Band D: - Generally exchanges with 8,000 to 10,000 NAS * and exchanges with 1,500 to 8,000 NAS but average loop length is less than 4KMs
Band E: - band with 4KMs
Band G: - remote band (no year round road access/or remote of a company's serving territory).
************************************************
Q: How do I qualify the Band Rate? A: By phone number... by NPA-NXX (519-360-****).... Get your neighbours if you don't have one as we'll need it.
************************************************
Q: Where does Bell install the service? A: They generally install to the demarcation point, but of late they will sometimes bring it to the room of choice.... 50:50 it seems of late. The Demarcation point, in apartment buildings, can be as far off as the basement, so be prepared to possibly have to run cabling to your apartment from the basement room.
************************************************
Q: How long does it to get Dry-DSL installed? A: It's normally about 5 business days. Sometimes, due to scheduling for access to the premises, an extra day or two can be expected.
************************************************
Q: If Bell has to work on the lines after the installation, will there be a fee? A: Yes, Bell is providing an unserviced copper pair, so if they need to fix things, once the install is working fine, there's a high likelihood that a charge can be expected if they have to come back and work on things.
************************************************
Q: What types of modems will work with Dry-DSL? A: Just about any modem, so long as it supports G.dmt... The preference of late is toward the SpeedTouch and SpeedStream models as they seem to have better performance results and less return issues. -- Rocky/TSIGUY - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. |
