Coriolis3Premium join:2001-03-09 Fredericton, NB | Intel SE440BX-3... Does it really exist? I have an old Dell Dimension XPS T450 and I'm trying to get some info on its components.
According to SiSoft Sandra the Mobo is the "Intel SE440BX-3", but I can only find info (using the mobo finder) on the "Intel SE440BX-2". Is there really a SE440BX-3?
Furthermore, Sandra says the Chip set is "Intel 82443BX/ZX". I can't seem to find any info on this chip set either.
Specifically, I want to know if the board supports FSB of 133 MHz, and if it has temp/voltage/fan sensors?
Any help is appreciated! TIA -- Peace! |

 | reply to Coriolis3 I've built tons of system with "Intel SE440BX-2". Great board by the way. Never heard about SE440BX-3.

Perhaps it doesn't show on Intel's mobo lists because it's OEM? Does that make sense?
Still, I wonder about the chipset Sandra tells me I have -- the 82443BX/ZX... I can't even locate a family of chipsets starting with 82. -- Peace! |

I have a T500 at work, as well as the T450. -- Peace! |

OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 | reply to Coriolis3 To the best of my knowledge, the BX and ZX chipsets do not officially support a FSB speed beyond 100MHz.
I am not sure of the differences between the BX and the ZX but I have a Teckram ZX based board that can hit 133MHz FSB (but the PCI and AGP buses would be out of spec) and an Intel SE440BX-2 (umm
er..now I am wondering if its just a plain old SE440BX) that cannot.
My guess is, if you have a board that has higher settings then the manufacturer incorporated it for OC purposes and InDell wouldnt likely be into giving you that option. |

| reply to Coriolis3 You might want to check this site out. It has Dell upgrade info and some indication as to what boards can be OCed (if any).

ZuhaibKing Of FoolsPremium,ExMod 2001 join:2000-06-29 San Francisco, CA | reply to Zuhaib The BX chips can be Overclocked, but the problem with this MotherBoard is not that it is a BX Chip, but it is an Intel MotherBoard. It dose not have any Overclocking Options on it! But, i have seen a few post in the Overclockers Forum about a mod you can do to your PII/III to make it think it is a 133FSB.. But the only info i see right now is about PII, not the PIII. When i used it on my Desktop, i was never able to overclock it. That is the one reason why i now use it as a Server, and went out and got my First AMD Chip =P -- I am Pakistani And No! I do not own a 7/11! And my NAME is not Apu! |

Coriolis3Premium join:2001-03-09 Fredericton, NB | reply to Octavean Cool! Looks like the XPS T-series is the only Dimension series that can be OC'd (that they know of). Well, woo hoo!
Noting, the link Octavean provided said the FSB can be OC'd up to 124 MHz.
I also read somewhere recently that FSB of 124 MHz was reached just using the stock fan/heat sink.... but now I can't find that link. Not sure I'd take that chance... -- Peace! |

At this moment, I have four sticks of 128Mb PC133 SDRAM sitting in a FedEx delivery truck somewhere between here and Boise, ID! Two for the T500 and two for the T450. It's soooo cheap these days... $17/stick from Crucial. -- Peace! |
