DSL modem question

Hey,

I'm sorry if my question has been answered before but I couldn't find anything after a quick search through the topics.
I am planning to switch to Teksavvy in the next 2-3 weeks. Right now I am looking at two modems, Speedstream 5200 for about $60 and Speedstream 5360 for $25. My question is, is it worth the extra money to get a 5200, or would the 5360 do the job ok. Is there a difference in performance between the two besides the 5360 not having diagnostics?
Also, if there are better alternatives out there, please let me know (I am trying to keep the price under $60)

Thanks for your help, and again sorry if the questions have already been answered.

Cheers:)

The 5200 is a newer modem, I don't think it should cost 60 dollars over eBay. You should be able to find it for 20-30 dollars. The 5200 can give you line statistics to see how good your line is which the 5360 cannot. Some models of the 5200 can also support ADSL 2+ which you will probably need down the road.

The Flash, thanks for the quick reply. I'll have a look at ebay for the 5200. Also, is there a way to distinguish which 5200 supports ADSL 2+, like model number for example?

Thanks,
mitko

I think it's 5200B, black version.

Check this one out.

It's more than 60 dollars but in the end you're getting probably the best DSL modem right now.

@rogers.com

thanks a lot for the links.
I contacted the Westell seller and if the shipping to Canada isn't something outrageous I will probably go for that one. The alternative would be the group buy for the SpeedTouch.
In general, is the Westell a good modem? I will be connecting it to a Netgear wireless router, so hopefully the built in router in the modem can be turned off and will not cause eny problems.

Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to DSL and I'd like to get as much info as possible before switching.

thanks for all the help

Using that right now with no problems. It shows the stats for your line as well.
