Hi, finally working net, but a few questions.

How do I know I am getting my full 5mb/s speed potential?

I checked on speedtest.net and got this.

And what is the DMT thing I keep seeing?

howdy im getting roughly the same speeds from london, ontario. they still seem to be only at half the speed of the service offered which is concerning.

KPaul....Doesnt look like your on the 5m profile..your DL speed would be in the 3000 or 4000. Chances are your profile is at 3m...i am guessing 3008-800.

Kpaul, can you post your line stats so we can see if your line will qualify for 5 megs or not?

What would his line stats say??? wont give him the distance from the CO. So then it means nothing

AIUI (with it being "means nothing"), not true at all.

If the line stats show that there's sufficieint headroom to boost the OP's profile then posting the stats has served a useful purpose. (All that would then need to be done would be to get Bell to raise the profile, right?)

If the line stats show the OP is maxing out their current signal, then if the OP is so interested they can look to moving a modem closer to the demarc, or getting a better DSL modem, or...?

But the easiest thing to fix would be to boost the profile ... if the OP's signal permits ... and one needs the line stats to know if that is feasible!

BellVictim is correct ..
The line stats speak volumes about how a line is doing.
Of course other important information is the performance of the line ... Since we do not have access to that information at all we rely on the client getting the error counts from their modems and giving them to us. If this is something that can not be done then we have to open tickets with Bell .. but we can't ask for just a performance reading so there actually has to be a problem on the line to open the ticket.

Doesn't everyone love catch-22 scenarios?

We've requested access to the information and are awaiting Bell's decision. Hopefully it's a yes. Being able to see the readings will do a couple of things for us... Limit the number of tickets we have to open and also make our ticket opening information more accurate!
