Router really shouldn't do that. |

I have the same problem as the poster 183 posts ago. Any answers? there is a direct relationship between the opening distance of a window and how many birds can fly in and poop all over the place. |

Verizon wins what? Number of subs? Speed? Revenue?
Verizon doesn't serve the entire country.
Folks would say Verizon's broadband wireless service is the weakest of all national offerings.

I meant,
Why does OOL support NOT know this stuff?? You don't really want your ISP tech support messing with your hardware/software/registry, do you?
Apparently, Verizon is going that route, for an extra charge of course.....can't wait to hear the horror stories of Verizon CSR's being accused of borking people's computers.

Why does OOL support NOT know this stuff?? Because they do not do computer support. The people in this forum know more than their tech support employees, as you have found out.

| reply to La Luna Whats amazing is that OOL has no clue about the rwin settings. The onsite technician that showed up thought since I was splitting my cable line to my slingbox that was the issue, although I assured him the modem was in the -10 to +10 range so I should be fine.
The people on the phone were the ones telling me to do the FTP test and that the 2 MB/s speed should be 20+ MB/s. An earlier post made me realize that 2 MB/s is about 16 Mb/s. This was after I told the tech I was getting about 16 Mb/s on the OOL online test. He said those results are not as good as the FTP test.
Why does OOL support now know this stuff??
Anyway, like I said, all is resolved now. |

Ok, sometimes its the simplest things. My laptop was tweaked properly, a 65535 rwin setting. All my other PCs, 17000 and change. When I was doing the tweak and it asked for kb/s, I put in too low a number. My calculations were obviously off. Thanks for everyones help here. ISSUE RESOLVED!! IZ am getting 25/4.5 on all machines now.
The Netgear WPNT834 had nothing to do with it. And another one that turned out to NOT be the router!
Glad you got it fixed. -- ~~Don't wanna' fight in a holy war...World war III when are you coming for me? Been kicking up sparks, we set the flames free...the windows are locked now so what'll it be? A house on fire or a rising sea?...~~

OOL sent out a rep. We made a direct line from the first splitter to my cable modem. My laptop now gets 26/4.5 consistently when connected directly to router. GOOD.
Now, reconnect Netgeat WPNT834 router.
My main P4 computer gets 10/4.5. JUNK. I then took my laptop and connected it to the router, 26/4.5.
What gives? My main pPC is a P4, my laptop is really a piece of junk. I did tweak test on my main PC. Also, I tested it on various other machines and got near 10/4.5.
Notes and recommendations: We have no recommendations for 64k lines Looking good
Observations: Good data stream (no/few rexmits)
Observations: Looking good |

@army.mil | reply to TheWiseGuy I have a Netgear WPNT834 and that is on the list of approved routers. I even turned off SPI and that made no difference at all. |

18 MB? That's not even that good without the router. |
