AT&T dumps Yahoo!, contracts with Google for email (4-1)

For all those who have been less than satisfied with Yahoo's email performance, your torment may be over. AT&T and Google are rumored to be in talks to provide AT&T users with their brand-new service named, appropriately, "GMail Paper".

No more email viruses! No more email worms!

Details of the service here: »mail.google.com/mail/hel ··· ore.html

And, since it's sputum-based, it's environmentally friendly! What's not to like?

Anyone got a spare invitation? Will there be a discount if I sign up for a year? How much will the retiree penalty be?

C'mon, it isn't fair to make me wait.

Google is really announcing a lot of fantastic new stuff on April 1.

I think it's great that they didn't wait till the 3rd quarter of the year but decided to give us all tis cool stuff at the start of the second quarter - you know - April 1.

We may not get worms or viruses through Gmail Paper, but the new plumbing-based broadband might be prone to e-typhus.

Or E-Ecoli.

I thought this part was good. Made me think of my Mother-in-law

"Now that I have Gmail Paper, I understand the difference between labels and folders. I had one message with two labels, but when I tried to stick the paper version into two filing cabinets at the same time, it just wouldn’t go."

Now why would you ask a question like that?

Well that would sure be a good solution for those in rural areas, it's probably better than Hughesnet!

From the Google TiSP FAQ:

Can I use TiSP if my home uses a septic system?
Sorry, but no -- TiSP requires the use of a central sewer system to connect your home to the Internet

Now the availability of speed packages and service in general will likely depend on your distance from the sewage plant that services your neighborhood.

I disagree. Google has the right implementation here. Google TiSP is Fiber From The Home (FFTH), which doesn't have speed & distance limitations like *DSL does. Fiber To The Neighborhood (FTTN) like AT+T is deploying will forever have distance & speed limitations as long as they keep using copper instead of fiber.

With Google TiSP, all you need to do is send a few more GFlush nodes with fiber cables connected to them, wait for the PHD to hook you up and you've got more bandwidth.

Is this for real? You have to leave that thing down your toilet as long as you have that service? What about all that poopie and peepee going down that toilet at the same time that cable is stretched down there? Wouldnt that become a bit unsanitary at some point?

There is an adapter kit in the works that will re-route the cable through the water holding tank. It hasn't been released yet due to issues with the flapper seal. Rumor is that it will be available to the public sometime this week.

Sometimes subtlety has it's place too. Several BBR forums are interesting:

Security » STD Prevention
»Security

Which could be related to Google TiSP, especially at a commercial install such as a gas station.

And:
Other Connectivity » Reasons That Cars Crash
»Cellphones, Providers, and Plans

That rings a bell...

That is a good choice. This brand is also recommended to reduce friction to the cable during flushing.

I thought AT&T was trying to buy Yahoo so they can change the name of it to AT&T, just like they did Bellsouth & Cingular.

ATT only likes there name and anyone who does business with them either has to be bought out or be assimilated.

Resistance if Futile ATT..>ATT.>ATT... it's back Mother Bell has rung.

Well considering my laptop has replaced magazines, this might actually turn out to be very beneficial for me.

In addition, with a few quick "enhancements," I'll bet you could use this fact to deter people from stealing your laptop. Maybe just a piece of "bathroom tissue" stuck to the latch and the return key?

If that wasn't enough to discourage them, you could then use a bloodhound for tracking instead of a lojack-type system. Yum!

I dunno I think with the TP w/ brown might be enough of a deterrent for me. I think i would say "Ya know what, it's not worth that much."

Maybe he protects the contents of the laptop with hard disk Cryptosporidium?
