Funny that the problem is download abuse and Comcast's response in the article is about sending (upload).

Would have been a better story if they had said what it was they were doing to use that much bandwidth.

Comcast lies. They don't "proactively" contact you... they leave a message at your house when you're now there and make it near impossible to reach them.

Then they lie... lie... and lie some more when it comes time to reconnect you.

They lost a $130+ a month customer. Hope it was worth it to them.

These mega corporations probably could care less, until they suddenly start to see their subscriber base drop. Comcast seems too big for their own good, but megalomart style businesses is the norm now days

When you use so much bandwidth that you are no longer profitable, apparently Comcast will hand you your hat.
Businesses are funny that way!

I don't think we are too far off from high definition 720p & 1080i/p movies being available commercialy from for example Apple iTunes and others . Once this is available Comcast and others will need to change their download policy - I plan on buying HD movies online and like it or not that means many gigs of download per/month.

and how many of these movies do you plan on downloading per month? the HD movie downloads on xbox live are only 6-7 gigs each. thats an awful lot of movies in 1 month to reach a significant total.

Adopting the communist style hyperbole of karlmarx will only make any argument you are trying to make meaningless.

The news story had it right. Your changing "Bandwidth Hogs" to "Power Users" is like putting a dress on a hog.

So I guess it would be okay with you if your phone company disconected you for making to many phone calls a month, even though they have not told you there is a limit or what it is.

And where are you planning on storing all those movies. How many terrabyte hard drives do you have?
